Academician and politician James Ole Kiyiapi is mourning the sudden demise of his younger brother Johnson Olemoi Kiyiapi following an IED attack in Somalia that left 9 KDF soldiers dead and 5 others seriously injured.
The attack happened at Gherille, Gedo in Somalia on Monday afternoon when the lorry the troop was travelling in ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and detonated it.
The attack is believed to have been launched by the infamous militia group known as the Al Shabaab.
Ole Kiyiapi took to his Twitter account to share the ill news that had befallen him and his family.
“I am in shock and in mourning. My young Brother JOHNSON OLEMOI KIYIAPI was among other soldiers killed in Somalia yesterday, through an improvised explosive device. They paid the ultimate price and NO news item on who they are - they die incognito,” Kiyiapi tweeted.

The survivors from the attack were airlifted to Nairobi for medical attention.
In the past few months, IEDs have been terrorists’ dominant form of attack, especially within the borders of Kenya.
