Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has officially joined Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja Movement on Tuesday.

He said through his social media handles that research and confidential reports informed his decision to join the Azimio movement.

Kiraitu also authoritatively said the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya is Raila.

“We have done the research, talked to opponents and listened to confidential reports. I can confidently tell you that the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya is no other than Raila Odinga,” Kiraitu said.

Kiraitu also confirmed his Devolution Empowerment Party will work with Azimio la Umoja Movement.

“Devolution empowerment party will work with Azimio Movement for a better Kenya,” Kiraitu said.

Kiraitu’s entry into the Azimio movement comes a few days after one of his opponents in the Meru gubernatorial race Senator Mithika Linturi was jeered by a crowd he was addressing during a rally in Meru while he was talking ill of Raila.

Linturi who declared his interest in the Meru gubernatorial seat was told to join Azimio by the crowd who chanted pro-Azimio slogans and interrupted his speech, forcing him to cut it short.
