Bishop Calisto Odede of CITAM Church stopped Meru Senator Mithika Linturi in his tracks while he was addressing a congregation in a manner he felt desecrated the ongoing service.
Linturi was claiming there was an individual who caused the country to fight after he dismissed the election results.
The senator was subtly attacking the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga despite the fact that Bishop Odede had earlier cautioned against such.
“The country has been fighting because there is an individual who does not accept election results once they’re announced by IEBC,” Linturi said.
However, the clergyman could not allow Linturi to further utter any more words that could bring tension or alienate any member of the society.

According to Bishop Odede, the church was the ground where everyone was invited regardless of their political affiliations.
“As I mentioned earlier on that as a church, we try to minister to people from different political parties without creating any sense of animosity. And in a function like this which is in our church, we try to maintain that attitude that everyone else comes whether you are UDA, whether you are ODM, whether you are Jubilee, whether you are…you are welcome here. You need to feel comfortable here that no one is alienating you and no one is actually saying some things that are negative that would ostracise anyone,” Odede said.
Linturi was forced to eat the humble pie and apologise for his remarks as he feigned the emotional weight of the matter he was talking about.
“I’m sorry these things can sometimes be emotional and I’m sorry and I apologise profusely to the church but please understand me,” Linturi said.
Linturi's remarks recently landed him on the wrong side of the law when he uttered disparaging 'madoadoa' remarks during a rally in Uasin Gishu.
