One Kenya Alliance has announced that it has officially initiated discussions with Jubilee and Orange Democratic Movement to form a grand coalition called Azimio One Kenya Alliance.

OKA announced the move in a joint statement issued on Friday and read by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on behalf of the other OKA principals.

Kalonzo was flanked by KANU party leader Gideon Moi, UDP party Cyrus Jirongo and a representative of NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua at the OKA command centre.

“The One Kenya Alliance wishes to inform Kenyans that it has officially initiated open and structured dialogue with like-minded political formations - namely the Jubilee Coalition and the ODM Party,” the statement read.

OKA said they were open to the formation of the grand coalition which shall be anchored on three equal pillars.

The statement further said OKA believed firmly in open, honest and structured dialogue to promote national unity; preserve the dignity of Kenyans, fight corruption and restore the dignity of the country.

“As OKA, we firmly believe in open, honest, and structured dialogue whose basis is the promotion of national unity; upholding and respecting the dignity of all Kenyans; ending the culture of corruption and impunity, and restoring the decency of living within our borders,” the statement read in part.

OKA also confirmed that its principals will officially sign a coalition agreement on February 28, 2022, as an affirmation of their commitment and deposit the same with the Registrar of Political Parties.

“As announced in our earlier communication, OKA principals will, on Monday, 28th February 2022, officially sign the Coalition Agreement as an affirmation of our commitment to seeing a just, inclusive and prosperous nation. Thereafter, we shall deposit the coalition agreement with the Registrar of Political Parties,” the statement continued.

In the same statement, OKA announced it will unveil its presidential flag bearer.

Kalonzo emphasised nobody is going to swallow the other in the arrangement and stressed equality of partnership and openness.
