President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to have endorsed Omar Idd Boga, the ODM candidate in the Msambweni by-election that is scheduled for December 15.

Boga met Kenyatta at State House Mombasa on Thursday and even posed for a photo setting tongues wagging that he had opted to throw his presidential weight behind the ODM candidate in the looming mini poll.

The ODM candidate cut short a meeting between Odinga and grassroot leaders at Buffon hotel to rush and meet Kenyatta  accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho before they tagged along for the commissioning of the Sh1.9 billion Likoni floating Bridge.

Pundits are postulating that with Kenyatta’s “endorsement” Boga is as good as elected as he faces Deputy President Wiliam Ruto’s choice for the seat, independent candidate Feisal Bader.

It is reported that the meeting between Boga and the Commander-In-Chief was arranged by Odinga even as details of the president’s brief meeting with Boga remain scarce.

The president’s Jubilee Party in September opted not to field a candidate in Msambweni in favour of ODM’s Boga as a benefit of the handshake between Kenyatta and the ODM aspirant.

However, in a show of defiance following his public fallout with Kenyatta, DP Ruto announced his backing of independent candidate Bader and has been leading vibrant campaigns for him.
