Popular Disc Jockey (DJ) Alex Nderi Murimi alias DJ Lithium has died at the age of 34 after reportedly taking his own life at his employer, Capital FM, offices.
Kilimani OCS Muturi Mbogo confirmed that DJ Lithium died on Wednesday afternoon at Nairobi Hospital where he was rushed after reportedly ingesting poison for unclear reasons.
According to Capital FM, Lithium collapsed on Wednesday afternoon at their offices located at Lonrho House in Nairobi’s CBD before being rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The media house says the DJ's family was notified of the emergency promptly and rushed to the hospital shortly after and were briefed on the circumstances leading to his demise.
Reports indicate that the medical team at the Nairobi Hospital did all they could to save the high-flying DJ’s life to no avail.

Programmes Director Danny Munyi mourned DJ Lithium as a talented addition to the larger Capital FM team who had an interesting sense of humour.
“Alex was a great addition to the larger Capital FM team, encompassing great talent as a DJ, producer and possessed an interesting 'right-wing' sense of humour,” Munyi said.
Because of the mysterious nature of his passing, the management appealed to members of staff and the public to accord the family privacy as the authorities launch an investigation.
“At this difficult time, we kindly ask you to respect the family’s privacy as we all grieve Alex’s loss,” the company said.
On Capital FM, DJ Lithium hosted Jam, which aired every Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Club Capital, which also aired every Friday from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am.
He worked at the station for eight illustrious years, doubling as a DJ and a producer.
