Azimio La Umoja Presidential aspirant Raila Odinga has blasted Deputy President William Ruto for failing to deliver on promises made to Kenyans and instead making even more.

Raila accused Ruto of campaigning around the country making false promises to Kenyans through his UDA party instead of delivering on pledges made in 2017 given he is still in power.

Addressing a rally at Thika Green Stadium on Saturday, he wondered what happened to the free laptops for learners, a stadium in each county and more youth jobs that he promised in 2013 and 2017.

“Jamaa ya kutoa ahadi, kila mara ahadi. Alihahidi watoto wote laptops, hizo laptops alileta? Aliahidi Wakenya ati kila mwaka kazi milioni moja. Sasa anasema milioni nne anasahau alikua amesema milioni moja mpaka wakati huu hajatoa hio milioni moja. Akija muulize iko wapi ile milioni moja ilienda wapi,” Raila said.

He challenged the DP to resign and allow more capable Kenyans to join in and address the challenges facing the people.

He added, “Umekuwa kwa serikali miaka nane kazi imekushinda. Toka wacha Baba aonyeshe wewe vile kazi inafanywa.”

Raila termed Ruto’s bottom-up and wheelbarrow pledges as unrealistic and not consistent with the need of the majority of Kenyans.

“Sasa amesema ni wheelbarrows. Sasa kama ulikua umeahidi watoto laptops, ambayo ni IT, unawaahidi wheelbarrow ya kufanyia nini?” he posed.

He warned Mt Kenya residents not to be duped by new promises by the UDA party leader, who is still the Jubilee Party Deputy Party Leader, and hold him to account for past pledges.

“Wakishaiba hiyo pesa yenu, anakuja nayo kwenu sasa anasema anataka kufanya harambee kwa kundi la vijana, kwa kundi la kina mama, anaingia kwa kanisa kufanya harambee…..hiyo ni unafiki,” the former Prime Minister added.

Raila expressed confidence that he will be the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya come August and vowed to ensure all leaders linked to corruption are prosecuted and jailed.
