Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has denied reports alluding that President Uhuru Kenyatta would be going on a month-long leave from December 15.

The Colonel (Rtd) termed as fake a letter purportedly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that indicated that President Kenyatta was planning to take a one-month break from his duties.

The said ‘fake’ letter was dated December 4 and was addressed to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions and international organisations telling them of the supposed looming development.

But on Tuesday Colonel (Rtd) Oguna posted the clarification on his official Government Spokesman Twitter account denouncing the letter that was widely circulated online.

The said letter had indicated that President Kenyatta would not be available for any public engagements or phone calls during the period of his break save for emergencies.

The break would have seen the Head of State resume his state duties on January 16, with the letter attracting varied responses from Kenyans both online and offline.
