The Standard Group has made changes in its newsroom.

Announcing the editorial changes, the Standard Group Editor-in-Chief Ochieng’ Rapuro said the changes will streamline Standard Group’s operations in the converged newsroom setup.

Rapuro told the editorial staff on Thursday that the group has a clear picture of what is viable for the newsroom.

“We now have a fairly clear picture of what is working for us and what we can do better,” Rapuro said.

The changes have seen three senior appointments of Kizito Namulanda, Ng’ang’a Mbugua and Nzau Musau.

Namulanda has been appointed to the Editor Broadcast’s position where he will be in charge of innovation and content. Before his appointment, he was the Project manager for Standard Group transformation and was also the pioneer Intake Editor.

Musau has been promoted to Intake Editor’s position from serving as a pioneer continuity editor in the converged newsroom.

Mbugua becomes the Deputy Editor for the Print Daily. Previously, Mbugua was a senior editor at the Daily Nation.

Sophia Wanuna resumes her role as the Deputy Editor, Broadcast. She has been acting in the Broadcast Editor’s capacity.

Replacing Nzau Musau as the Continuity Editor is John Mwaura who was the TV Programmes, Editor.

The new City Editor becomes Roselyne Obala from the position of Politics Editor. Her place has been taken by Fred Indimuli who until the changes was the Output Editor.

Wairimu Nyingi has become the Editor at the Quality Assurance desk and her former place as the Entertainment Editor has been taken by Stevens Muendo.

Amos Kareithi moves from being the City editor to becoming the new Deputy Editor for Politics.

The new Deputy Editor of the City Desk is Augustine Oduor. Oduor is a seasoned Education reporter.

Eddie Talam has been confirmed as the Deputy Editor in charge of counties.

Nicholas Asego and Mark Oloo have moved to Quality Assurance as Editors at the Print Hub while George Maringa and Fredrick Kagonye move to the Radar desk as reporters.

Rapuro said the appointments were effective immediately.
