The embattled president of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nick Mwendwa was arraigned in Nairobi on Monday morning.

Mwendwa arrived at the Milimani Law Court to answer to graft allegations raised agains him after Sports CS Amina Mohamed disbanded Football Kenya Federation (FKF) last week.

He was arrested on Friday afternoon and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning before being transferred to Gigiri Police Station where spent the weekend.

Mwendwa was arrested shortly after the CS disbanded FKF and sent him and his team packing over allegations of mismanagement.

Amina also appointed an interim 15-member committee led by retired Justice Aaron Ringera to run the affairs of football in Kenya.

Mwendwa is being accused of misappropriation of FKF funds running into hundreds of millions of shillings.

The inspection committee appointed by the registrar came up with recommendations that saw the disbandment of FKF among other measures to revive football and its management.

However, Mwendwa vowed to stay put and ignored Amina’s orders and was nabbed while meeting the Harambee Stars team ahead of the Kenya-Rwanda World Cup qualifier match on Monday, November 15.
