A police officer based at the Kenya Ferry Services in Mombasa is at a loss after he woke up to find his firearm, which he had hidden under his pillow at the Mbaraki police lines, missing.
Police Constable Wilfred Onsomu said he reported for duty at the ferry ramp early on Monday morning only to discover his Ceska pistol was missing and could not account for it.
According to Onsomu, who reported the matter at the Mombasa central police station, the pistol was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition at the time he secured it under his pillow.
A search by police officers at the scene bore no fruit, even as it later emerged that the officer had brought home with him an unidentified female companion on the fateful Sunday night.
The said cop also reported that he had lost a mobile phone and Sh4,000 in cash and the case is now being handled by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Services (DCI) in Mombasa.
