Any candidate who wished to vie for an elective position on a UDA ticket had better steer clear of violence.

Deputy President William Ruto has said that any candidate who applies any form of violence faces expulsion from the party.

“Any candidate that uses violence in UDA will be disqualified, violence must never be part of the equation in UDA,” Ruto said.

Ruto said that while speaking to his supporters in the coastal county of Kilifi.

His warning was a preemptive move to avoid future fallout, and rebellion witnessed after unsatisfactory party nominations.

The DP held a meeting with all UDA party aspirants from all the counties within the coastal region.

Ruto finishes his week-extensive tour of the coastal region on Tuesday where he has been drumming up support for the UDA party and popularizing his presidential bid.
