Three officers from the presidential escort unit attached to Deputy President Wiliam Ruto have been transferred for links to a scuffle at Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi's home.

Chief Inspector Amos Ekiru, Constable Issack Dida and Constable Simon Siengo received their transfer letters from the police headquarters that effectively posted them to Bondo, Mandera and Homa Bay respectively.

The trio was summoned to the police headquarters to explain their presence at Sudi’s residence and role in failed attempts by the police to arrest the MP on September 11.

Aside from the transfers, considered to have emanated from disciplinary grounds, the three were also withdrawn from the elite unit and reassigned general duties as part of their punishment.

Sudi was arrested on September 13 after presenting himself at the Langas Police Station in Eldoret.

He was on Wednesday arraigned in Nakuru to answer to two charges of hate speech and one of offensive conduct.

The vocal lawmaker however denied the charges and was released on a Sh500,000 bond.
