Deputy President William Ruto has asked the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to act quickly and address the ongoing unrest in Ol Moran, Laikipia.

Ruto was speaking at his Karen home where he hosted local leaders from Narok South Constituency.

He said the country is experiencing instability because the IG has engaged in political endeavours.

“We are experiencing instability because the person who is supposed to be in charge of security is busy with petty politics,” Ruto said.

He added that the IG had failed Kenyans by being partisan and undertaking political assignments.

The DP refuted revelations by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i that he owns 15,000 hectares of land in Laikipia County were false.

He challenged the government to reclaim the land and allocate it to the displaced persons in Laikipia.

“Now that they said I own 15,000 hectares of land, I am giving them the authority to allocate it to the people of Laikipia,” he said.

Ruto said security officials should discharge their mandate independently.
