The President Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nelson Havi has said he will file a petition challenging the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

He said his decision to petition CBC was informed by complaints from parents, guardians and teachers.

He intimated that an education system should not be expensive, inefficient, ineffective and experimental with the children at the risk of their future.

“The education system in Kenya should not be an expensive, inefficient and ineffective experiment with our children and their future as is our leadership,” he said.

According to critics, CBC has proven to be more expensive than the 8-4-4 system as it requires a lot more in terms of finances and requirements.

Among the people who have opposed the CBC is the former Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion.

Sossion said CBC is a deceptive system that threatens to reverse Kenya’s education milestones and is unprofessionally implemented.

Parents have complained about the pressure the CBC is putting on their finances and time especially since the country is facing economic downtime.
