Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo confirmed the evacuation of 3 Kenyans from Afghanistan.
She said the 3 were expected to be back in the country on Thursday night by 9:00 pm.
Two of the Kenyans evacuated worked for Action Contre la Faim (ACF) while one worked for the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).
In a statement issued on Thursday, Omamo stated that the government is monitoring closely how events are unfolding in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Kenya High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan which is the nearest Mission to Afghanistan, has reached out to our allies to get information of any Kenyans stranded in Afghanistan and prospects of evacuation," said Omamo.

According to the Kenyan government, there were 12 Kenyans working in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to the organizations the Kenyans were working on requesting to evacuate stranded Kenyans urgently.
Likewise, the Ministry also communicated to respective foreign missions in the country where the organizations originate to intervene and ensure Kenyans are safely evacuated.
