Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has given a 7-day notice to the individuals who have their kin in the city-run mortuaries to claim the bodies.
NMS Health Secretary Dr Ouma Oluga in a statement said they will seek consent to dispose of the bodies which have congested the three city facilities namely; City Mortuary, Mama Lucy and Mbagathi Hospital.
Once the notice lapses, NMS will dispose of the bodies accordingly.
NMS urges the members of the public to come forth to identify and claim the bodies before the deadline lapses.
“Pursuant to Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary; Public Health (Public Mortuaries) Rules, 1991] (2). Interested members of the public are asked to identify and collect bodies named below within 7 days,” the statement partly read.

Bodies lying at City Mortuary include those of Moses Munene, Wachui Ndunde Joshua Kimani, Martin Mwangi, George Mutiso, one identified only as Saidi, Richard Turere, Rondriger Mangau, Esther Nyambura, Daniel Juma, Kevin Muchina and David Mbatia. at Mama Lucy include the Bodies lying at Mama Lucy include the bodies of Charles Shikera, Martin Karis, David Kamau, David Kathuku, Peter Musemi, Tyrus Mwenja, Matthew Tarus, John Kiboro, and Hawa Maguyu.
Bodies lying at Mbagathi Hospital are those of Nickson Mutunga and Kasol Ndunge
