UDA's candidate Njuguna Wanjiku has won the fiercely contested Kiambaa parliamentary by-election.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Njuguna the winner after garnering 21,773 votes narrowly beating his main Jubilee rival Kiriri Njama who managed 21,263 votes.
The Kiambaa by-election was considered a foreshadow of what is to be expected in the forthcoming 2022 general election.
Earlier on, Jubilee candidate had protested the provisional results that placed Njuguna ahead of him with 21,301 votes against his own 21,057 votes.
Kariri together with his supporters stormed the main polling station demanding a vote recount at Kawaida Nursery and Muchatha polling stations citing electoral malpractice.

He also alleged that the presiding officer was misleading the public as he questioned where the voted that made Njuguna stay in the lead were coming from.
“You see, they had announced results earlier, wakasema Wanjiku was at 21, 301 and Kariri was at 21,057, kwenda kuangalia tena tunapata Wanjiku ameongezewa kura, hizi kura wametoa wapi?" posed Kariri.
IEBC momentarily stopped the tallying process at the main tallying center in Karuri High School on Friday morning after Kariri's protest.
Njuguna's triumph right in the backyard of President Uhuru Kenyatta serves to show the deputy president William Ruto's influence in the region that is predominantly Kikuyu.
