Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana on Sunday celebrated his 67th birthday as he announced that he had undergone a successful surgery.

Kibwana thanked God for the successful procedure after doctors operated on him to remove a growth in his back that has been a thorn in his flesh for years.

“I thank the ALMIGHTY for my successful surgery, continuing recovery, and today 67 years of LIFE. Happy birthday to ALL my BIRTHMATES,” he posted on Twitter.

The Makueni County boss spent 11 days at the Nairobi Hospital last week as doctors operated on his back after he complained of unusual symptoms in the recent days.

He was accompanied to the hospital by his wife Nazi and brother Patrick Kibwana, who is the Makueni Health CEC as he finally got the courage to deal with the medical challenge.

In an opinion piece he wrote for Nation, Kibwana said he battled general body pains for more than a year, pain in his chest, back, kidney, arms and legs as well as headaches.
