Detectives arrested a robbery with violence suspect believed to be behind a series of robbery incidents in Nyahururu Town on Sunday evening.

The suspect’s arrest came after the detectives who were on a different mission in the area spotted a suspicious vehicle; a Toyota Noah.

A quick search of the vehicle discovered established that the vehicle had an extra pair of registration plates, prompting the detectives to conduct a thorough search.

The thorough search unearthed other items from the vehicle, including crude weapons, gunny bags, six mobile phones, assorted goods and women’s clothes believed to be belonging to robbery victims.

When the detectives consulted with their counterparts at the Laikipia Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office, they learnt the vehicle was on the DCI radar after being mentioned in several robberies within Nyahururu, Ol-joro-orok, Nyandarua north, Olkalou, Subukia, Laikipia West, Kirima, Gilgil and Naivasha Sub-counties just to mention but a few.

Four victims have already come forth and identified the suspect positively.

When further probed, the suspect revealed he and his accomplices who are still at large had travelled from Nairobi to conduct their criminal activities in the said areas.

Police are holding the suspect at Ol-Kalou Police Station where he is being processed before he is arraigned.

The police have also intensified a manhunt for the suspect’s accomplices
