President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County on Friday to start his 4-day working tour of Central Kenya Region amid rising revolt against his administration.

During his visit, President Kenyatta is expected to launch several complete development projects and inspect ongoing Programmes executed by the National Government.

Speaking on Friday at Sagana, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo said the president will also meet leaders and residents of the Region to discuss national government programmes.

According to Dena, among the items on the agenda are the Big 4 Agenda, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), curriculum reforms and the ongoing fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

State House stated that the Head of State’s itinerary during his 4-day trip will be in strict compliance with National Covid-19 Containment Protocols as ordered by the Ministry of Health.

Kenyatta is expected to host governors, Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) at the Sagana State Lodge on Saturday to iron out rising issues.

Dena announced that the main agenda of the closed-door consultative meeting by President Kenyatta will be development in the region and will be open to all invited leaders in the region.

He is then scheduled to inspect of national government development projects and conduct meet-the-people visits whose details will be made public in due course.

The Kenyatta, at the same time, thanked all parents who managed to take their children back to school at the start of the month despite disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

“As the children settle in school after a long period of absence, the Head of State would like to assure all parents that the government is committed to ensuring that learning continues uninterrupted throughout the country,” Dena said.

The President further directed the Ministry of Education to devise a mechanism to re-integrate into the school system girls who got pregnant during the nine-month break.

This even as he warned that the security agencies have been given firm instructions to deal with perpetrators of arson attacks that have been rampant recently in schools across the country.

The tour by Kenyatta comes a day after 41 MPs from Mt Kenya region wrote him a terse open letter, accusing him of failing to unite the country, sluggish development and vowing that they will not sell BBI and Raila Odinga as a presidential candidate in the 2022 election.
