Four children are fighting for their lives at the Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital after their father tried to kill them before taking his own life.

The bizarre incident happened at Kamenya village in Rangwe, Homa Bay County on Tuesday evening.

According to the police report, the deceased man identified as Ronny Ochieng slit the bellies of his two last-born twin sons aged 3 with a sharp knife and poisoned his two daughters aged 5 and 9 with an acaricide before ingesting the same poison.

His daughters started screaming hysterically, attracting the attention of some well-wishers who rushed to the scene and rescued them.

The well-wishers rushed the children to the Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition where they are receiving treatment.

Unfortunately, Ochieng' was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Reports say the incident occurred when the children’s mother was away from home fending for her family.

Detectives also established that the man was due to appear before the Children’s department offices in Rangwe on December 14, 2022.

Apparently, Ochieng’ was summed to the Children’s department officer over their endless domestic squabbles.
