Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua met the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga on Friday Morning.

The two leaders met at Moi International Airport VIP Lounge in Mombasa.

Gachagua in a social media post expressed his delight in meeting Raila who he referred to as a senior citizen.

He said they have tremendous respect for the country’s senior citizens.

"We have tremendous respect for our senior citizens. I was delighted this morning to have a tete a tete with our senior citizen former Prime Minister Raila Odinga," Gachagua said.

The two met when Raila was en route to Machakos County for the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting while Gachagua was on his way back to Nairobi from the governors’ induction workshop that took place in Mombasa.

This is the first time Raila and Gachagua are meeting after the hotly contested presidential election results.

Raila has been away from the country on the Spice Island of Zanzibar to reflect and heal from the shock caused by the presidential election results.

He jetted back into the country on Thursday and went straight to Mombasa for Governor Abdulswamad Nassir at the Sarova Whitesands.
