Garissa Town MP Aden Duale has been re-elected once again as the Garissa Township Member of Parliament.

Duale retained his seat after garnering 9,905 votes on a UDA ticket against his closest opponent Abdulahi Mohamoud who trailed him with 5,509 votes.

Duale who spoke after being declared the winner said he won based on plans they offered for the people of Garissa Township.

“Not because we were the best but we offered — in The Plan — viable remedies for the present challenges in Garissa Township Constituency,” Duale said.

However, Duale could not round up all Garissa Township votes into Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto’s ballot as Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition garnered more votes as of Thursday morning.

Raila received 16,718 while Ruto had 7,904 votes.

At that time, the former premier had garnered 53,431 votes so far in Garissa County, while the Deputy President had 16,172 votes.
