Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has appointed Omar Lali as the party’s National Coordinator of Beach Boys Association.

Wamae announced Lali’s appointment on Tuesday via a Facebook post.

“I have today appointed Omar Lali as Roots Party Coordinator of Beach Boys Association country wide,” Wamae wrote.

Wamae said that Beach boys spur up the tourism economy as they are guides offering lengthy tours of the coastline and the marine parks.

Others sell African souvenirs such as khangas, Maasai sandals and beadwork. Some of these traders display their wares along the sandy stretch.

According to Wamae, Lali will rope in beach boys whose voices have remained unheard in Kenyan’s development agenda.

“Omar brings the beach boys vote who are many at times ignored in Kenya's development agenda. Roots Party of Kenya looks forward to this strategic partnership,” Justina said.

Lali came into the public limelight when Tecra Muigai, the daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja Keroche died after an accident in their Lamu home.

Lali and Tecra had been living together when the incident happened and Tecra’s family accused Lali of murdering their kin.

He was arrested and charged with his lover’s murder after the investigated police and prosecutor said that the evidence gathered by investigators was enough to conclude that Tecra’s death was not accidental.

However, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) dropped all the charges against Lali and Lali was set free.
