President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended the daily dusk-to-dawn curfew up to March 12.

The government on Sunday announced that the curfew will continue to be enforced countrywide from 10pm to 4am.

President Kenyatta, in an Executive Order, also announced a 60-day ban on political rallies and all other gatherings, that may be super-spreader events in Kenya.

The ban, however, excludes funerals and weddings as long as the attendance is limited to below 150 people as stipulated by Covid-19 protocols.

Overnight vigils and other events remain banned indefinitely.

Passengers in PSVs and private cars must wear masks, maintain social distancing and hand hygiene while in the vehicle.

All Public Service Vehicles are also expected to strictly observe the 60% maximum carrying capacity limit during the curfew extension period.

The government noted in its Executive Order that as much as the positivity rate continually declining, the Covid-19 pandemic still posed a grave threat to the health and livelihoods of Kenyans.

So far Kenya has confirmed 96,802 Covid-19 cases since the first case was confirmed on March 13 last year.
