Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives seized a consignment of cocaine worth Sh100 million from a house in Utange, Mombasa County on Friday.

This follows a tipoff through the toll-free 'Fichua kwa DCI' hotline.

One female suspect identified as Nuru Murshid Mahfud, 29, was arrested following the meticulous operation.

Detectives drawn from the Transnational Organized Crimes and the Anti-Narcotics units conducted the operation.

The detectives are yet to establish whether the drugs which were carefully packaged in 35 sachets and concealed in suitcases were meant for local consumption or were on transit to a different destination.

Police have detained Nuru at a police station in the coastal city as the undercover agents hunt for her accomplices.

Meanwhile, experts at the Chemistry and Toxicology units based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory shall conduct more tests on the highly addictive drug, the biggest recovery yet in as many months.
