An unfortunate drowning accident involving a General Service Unit (GSU) cadet occurred in Embakasi GSU training camp on Wednesday.

37-year-old Wycliff Geresa is reported to have drowned when he was taking swimming lessons with his colleagues on that fateful day.


According to the police report, Geresa drowned after sinking in the swimming pool at around 4:30 pm while taking swimming lessons.

“Today, May 18, 2022, at around 16:30 hrs a section of Course men were having swimming lessons when one cadet namely Wycliff Geresa of number 89639 sunk into the swimming pool as he swam with the rest,” the police said.

Efforts to rush Geresa to Riara Hospital bore no fruits as he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was later moved to Kenyatta University Mortuary where his post mortem will be performed next week.
