Police have arrested 229 boda boda operators in the ongoing crackdown following the assault on a female motorist on Friday along Forest Road.
According to the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai, the suspects were rounded up in an operation to flush out the real culprits in the incident.
913 motorbikes have also been impounded in the spirited operation.
“We have 229 riders in custody. 913 motorcycles were also seized,” Mutyambai said.
Most of the operators were arrested for flouting various rules including causing obstruction and riding on pavements.
They were arraigned at Milimani Law Courts and fined Sh35,000 each for their offences.
This comes after the president ordered a crackdown of all boda boda operators starting from Nairobi and across Kenya.
