Buckingham Palace has announced Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the official report, the queen is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms. However, she will continue performing light duties at Windsor over the following week.

The palace said the queen will continue to receive medical attention and adhere to the prescribed protocols.

"She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines," Buckingham Palace said.

Queen Elizabeth had been in close contact with Prince Charles who also tested positive for the virus.

Several people at the Queen's residence of Windsor Castle have tested positive for Covid-19.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson took to his Twitter account the queen a quick recovery on behalf of the country.

"I'm sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health," Boris tweeted.
