The Serious Crimes Detectives unit in Nairobi has arrested 4 rogue Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Officers on charges of robbery with violence.

The foursome is accused of abducting a man at Nextgen Mall on February 6 before forcing him to give them his money.

The poor fellow had hailed an online taxi and was waiting for its arrival when the officers came by and accosted him then bundled him inside a waiting car.

While in the vehicle, the officer in charge, Corporal Tom Otieno, transferred Sh40,000 from the victim’s Mpesa account to his own.

After they drove the victim to his house where they stole some more money from him amounting to Sh272,750 then went and dumped him at Choma Zone along Mombasa Road.

The victim went to report the case the following day at Akila Police Station in South C when he was shocked to find the same vehicle the rogue offices had used the previous day parked outside the station.

The victim quickly rushed to the DCI headquarters to report his new findings to the Serious Crimes Unit.

Investigations were launched immediately into the matter, and the vehicle was established to belong to Langata DCI.

The four rogue officers were immediately arrested and paraded in front of the victim who positively identified them as the same persons who had taken him through the 2-hour ordeal.

The four officers were put in custody as they wait to be arraigned in court to face robbery with violence charges, contrary to Section 296 (2) of the Penal Code.
