A family is looking for their kin, a fresh General Service Unit (GSU) officer who has gone missing since he left the GSU training camp in Embakasi, Nairobi last week.

Mohammed Daud’s family said he last spoke with them when he was visiting a relative’s home in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate.

According to Mohammed’s family, he was supposed to travel to Mombasa the following day from the relative’s home.

Six days have gone by, but the family has not yet known the whereabouts of their kin.

Mohammed was set for a fortnight’s break after the graduation but has since gone missing, leaving his family in anxiety and fear for the worst.

The officer’s family is now appealing to the security department to assist them in searching for their missing family member.

His mother, Barwaka Adan, particularly asked the government to help him locate his son and inform him of his condition because she could do nothing about it at the moment.

“I am appealing to the government. I have no means, help me find my son. Should he be alive, let me know and if at all he is dead, also let me know,” his mother pleaded.

According to Ali Daud, Mohammed’s brother, Mohammed left his family for the GSU training camp on February 27, 2021, with a prayer request from his family to finish his training well and a promise to uplift their standards of living.

“When I come out from the training I am going for, you will be a happy lot. So all of you just intercede for me to God to allow me to complete this training well and I will bring great hope to this family. We said we would pray for you, brother, wherever you are as always,” said Ali.

Mohammed’s family has been waiting patiently for months for the return of their son, hoping to change their lives, but their high hopes and dreams came crumbling down on December 8 when he did not show up.

They had prepared a small feast for their returning hero, Mohammed, but the whereabouts of the twenty-three GSU officer remains unknown.

"Mohammed himself said he was coming home. We had already prepared meals for him to come and enjoy, but he did not show up. We have not seen him," Ali said.

The police confirmed that indeed Mohammed left the GSU camp.

They have also confirmed that they have launched a search for their fellow officer.
