The commuter train plying the railway line between Nairobi and Kisumu is back.

Travellers from Nairobi or Kisumu will now be able to travel between the two cities seamlessly.

The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) announced the return of the passenger train service two weeks ago.

It has been over ten years since the Kenya Railways ceased to operate passenger trains to Kisumu, following the dilapidated state of the railway line.

Kenya Railways Corporation Managing Director Philip Maingi said the move was aimed at tapping the increasing demand, especially during this festive season.

KRC announced that the services will begin on December 17.

“Rediscover the magical journey to Kisumu with us aboard the train from 17th December 2021,” KRC announced.

Travellers on board the train will have the privilege of enjoying free Wi-Fi during the long journey to and from the lakeside city of Kisumu.
