Self-confessed serial killer Masten Millimu Wanjala has escaped from police custody.

A police report says Wanjala escaped while being held at Jogoo Road Police Station.

What remains unclear is how Wanjala wiggled himself out of police custody given he is supposed to be guarded heavily.

Wanjala was arrested about two months ago after he was linked with a series of abductions and murders of children.

The 20-year-old suspect is believed to be behind the kidnapping and disappearance of two children in Shauri Moyo estate in Nairobi.

He admitted to detectives that he had executed Charles Opindo Bala, 13, and Junior Mutuku Musyoki aged 12, who went missing on June 30 and July 7, respectively.

Wanjala is believed to have murdered more than 10 minors before his arrest.
