Democrat Joe Biden is set to become America’s 46th president and become the man who evicts Republican president Donald Trump.

A cross section of US media called the election on Saturday after Biden bagged electoral college votes from Pennsylvania pushing his votes past the required 270.

Biden effectively brings to an end the four-year presidency of Trump, who polarized the politics and people of the global superpower.

CNN, NBC News, CBS News and fox News called the race in favour of Biden on Saturday following a tough and close battle with the tycoon.

The 77-year-old former VP, born Joseph Robinette Biden Jr in Delaware, is set to become the oldest president to ever assume office in US.

In a rejoinder, however, Trump hit out at the man who managed to tame him, claiming massive electoral fraud and that he had won.

"I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!" Trump tweeted as he headed to his golf course in Virginia.

Even as he lamented, the Secret Service already started intensifying its protection of president-elect Biden, who is set to be inaugurated on January 20.

The former Vice President under the Barack Obama administration promised to unite America following a tumultuous Trump presidency.

Senator Kamala Harris, a former California attorney general, is set to become the first woman to become vice president in the United States.

The 56-year old will also make history as the first black woman to enter the White House in either president or vice president position.

Depending on how the Biden-Harris administration executes its mandate, she might have a strong shot at the top job post-Biden.

The Tuesday poll broke records with 160 million Americans casting their ballot after a divisive campaign amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Biden secured his victory by recapturing Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, traditional Democratic territory that Trump grabbed in 2016.

Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes solidified the win for Biden taking his total tally to 273 out of 538 possible Electoral College votes.
