The Kenyan social media space was today awash with a video showing a daring incident of either bravado or sheer buffoonery. 

A team of 3 individuals on a motorbike plucked a phone off the hands of a traffic police officer manning the Roysambu roundabout along Thika Road, Nairobi.

The incident occurred on July 6, 2021, at around 5 pm and was captured on a motorist’s dash cam

The criminals executed their mission with utmost precision leaving the office dumbfounded as he could fathom what had hit him.

He tried to run after the criminals momentarily but gave up as his feet were no match for the motorbike’s engine capacity and the criminals fled.

The traffic police officer resumed his duty upon realizing that there was nothing much left for him to do at the moment.

Most Nairobi residents have been left to wonder how safe they are if criminals have become bold enough to snatch items from uniformed police officers without flinching.

The daring incident came barely a week after the Nairobi Police Commander Augustine Nthumbi announced the formation of a multi-agency team to tackle the rising cases of crime within Nairobi and its environs.
