A total of 339,893 people had been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine in Kenya so far, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday.

MoH said 99,084 of those who have received the Astrazeneca jab are health workers, 27,945 security officers, 45,877 teachers and 166,987 members of the public and those aged 58 and above.

At the same time, the total fatalities in the country rose to 2,276 after 18 more deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, all being late death reports from health facility record audits.

The ministry headed by CS Mutahi Kagwe said 1,523 more people had tested positive to Coronavirus from 7,423 samples tested, pushing the national positivity rate to 20.5 per cent.

Total confirmed Covid-19 cases now stand at 141,365, as cumulative tests done since the first case of the virus was reported in Kenya now increasing to 1,530,736.

Similarly, 616 patients recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing total recoveries to 97,194.
