Kenya’s death toll due to Coronavirus has risen to 1,568 after 16 more patients lost the battle in 24 hours.
This comes as Covid-19 cases also rose to 90,305 after 644 people were confirmed to have tested positive for the virus within the same period.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new confirmed cases were reported out of 6,811 samples that were tested in the past 24 hours.
The Mutahi-Kagwe headed ministry also announced that recovery cases had also increased to 71,254 after 1,060 more patients recovered in health facilities across the country.
910 of the recoveries were from the home-based care programme while 150 were discharged from various hospitals across the 47 counties.

Out of the new infections confirmed, 619 were Kenyans and 25 foreigners, the youngest a one-year-old infant and the oldest aged 90. 407 of the new patients are male and 237 are female.
Nairobi County continued to report the highest new infections at 158.

In his statement on Thursday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 994 patients were admitted at various health facilities spread across the country and 7,844 were under home-based care.
He further revealed that 55 Covid-19 patients were in ICU, 27 being on ventilatory support and 27 on supplemental oxygen.
