A total of 7 patients have succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours making cumulative fatalities to shoot to 1,886 in Kenya amid a fresh surge in infections across the country.  

The new statistics have been released by the Ministry of Health, which revealed that 479 more people tested positive for the virus, raising total confirmed positive cases to 109,643.

In the last 24 hours government medics tested a total of 4,043 samples increasing the country’s cumulative tests conducted so far since the first case was confirmed to 1,340,657.

According to the Mutahi Kagwe-led ministry, 113 patients recovered from the virus; 65 from Home Based and Isolation Care and 48 from various health facilities across the country.

Total recoveries in the country now stand at 87,736, even as some 565 patients remain admitted in various health facilities countrywide.

A total of 1,601 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care; 86 are in ICU, out of which 22 are on ventilatory support, 52 on supplemental oxygen and 12 others are on observation.
