The University of Nairobi (UoN) Senate is on March 22 scheduled to started the process of deregistering students who are deemed to have overstayed at the institution. 

UoN Deputy VC of Academic Affairs, Prof Julius Ogeng’o, said the Senate had on August 26 last year approved Guidelines for Student Progression, 2020. 

In a memo released on Monday, Prof Ogeng’o announced that Section 2.7 of the guidelines dealt with the progression and termination of students from the leading Kenyan university.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor noted that, according to Section 2.7.2 of the said UoN Guidelines, the university will deregister at least four categories of learners soon.

• Those whose studentship has expired

• Those whose studentship has been terminated by expulsion or discontinuation

• Those with unexplained failure to transit to the subsequent level and

• Those who interrupted their studentship by temporary withdrawal, deferment or suspension.

“Students who need assistance, more information and/or further clarification may contact their respective Deans/Directors; Director Graduate School; or Academic Registrar,” he added.
