This year marks a significant milestone for Starehe Boys’ Centre as it celebrates its 65th anniversary, a journey defined by its enduring commitment to providing quality education to Kenya’s brightest yet financially disadvantaged students.

Under the theme "65 Years of Transforming Lives," the institution has launched a bold initiative to secure its future: raising Sh65 million for an endowment fund aimed at sustaining its mission for generations to come.

The endowment fund is not merely a financial goal but a lifeline to preserve Starehe's legacy of excellence and inclusivity.

The effort is being led by the school’s dedicated alumni, united under the Grifin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET), who are determined to ensure that 65 places at the Centre remain free indefinitely for bright students from needy backgrounds.

Speaking during a recent cheque presentation at the reopening of the school term, Fred Okono, the School’s Director, reflected on the institution's remarkable journey.

Justice Nzioki wa Makau, President of the Old Starehian Society, spoke passionately about the alumni's commitment to giving back.

“This contribution is a testament to our ongoing commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped us. We believe that supporting the endowment fund is a crucial step in ensuring that future generations of students have the same opportunities we had, to learn, grow, and succeed at Starehe Boys’ Centre," Makau remarked.
