Education CS George Magoha has proposed a ban on pornographic sites in Kenya.

Magoha was speaking on Monday during the official opening ceremony of the Kenya Music Festival in Kisumu.

While noting the usefulness of the internet, Magoha opined that the downside of the internet needs to be addressed tool.

He stated that pornographic sites should be blocked with immediate effect.

"In as much as we enjoy the freedom of everything, including the internet, the pornographic sites centres must be blocked as soon as yesterday," Magoha said.

Magoha said he was labelled a dictator for his fight against pornography, a title he now says he is not afraid to bear.

"When I mentioned this they said no, you are a dictator but as far as pornography is concerned I want to remain as dictator in everyone's mind," the Education CS said.

Magoha urged Kenyans to support his bid to block pornographic sited for the safety of children online.

He said censoring the internet is not a dictatorship but responsibility as primary school children have no use of pornography.

"You do not want your children who are going to primary school to know all types and positions of having sex .... for what purpose?" Magoha posed.

Magoha also blamed pornographic sites for the increasing rate of teenage pregnancies and said nobody needs pornographic sites in Kenya.

He also cited that some countries in Africa and Asia have blocked pornographic sites and that has had a positive impact on their culture.

According to Magoha, the sites should not be accessible in Kenya just because they are accessible in the U.S. as some people argue.

“You see when you are not thinking about sex but someone opens a pornographic page then you start thinking about it and generating ideas. Why is that site accessible in Kenya? Who needs it?” he posed.

“Don’t tell us because it is accessible in the US that it should be accessible here. There are many countries in Africa and Asia that have blocked it and their culture is better.”
