Lugulu Girls High School in Webuye, Bungoma County has been closed indefinitely following protests by students who accused the school management failing to act on defilement claims. 

In an SMS sent to all parents on Tuesday, the Lugulu Girls’ administration asked parents to expect their children back home with them from Thursday early morning.

"Your daughter will be coming home tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, as from 6.30 am," the text read.

The girls stormed out of the school on Tuesday in protest following allegations that one of their colleagues had been defiled while in the school bathroom by an unknown assailant. 

And following the claims the girls from Form Four classes opted to stage a demonstration and marched all the way to Webuye town carrying twigs and demanding action on the assailants.

According the students, the defilement took place on Saturday morning and they alleged that such cases had been rampant in the school with strangers making their way into their dorms.

The girls further accused their headmaster and teachers of ignoring their plight and instead allegedly threatening them with expulsion if they did not stop raising the said issues.
