More than one million students are expected to report to Form 1 in secondary schools across the country from Monday.

These are the candidates who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2021 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This comes even as a section of parents are still struggling with economic challenges mostly caused by the rising cost of living and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teachers have raised concern about the students reporting to start their secondary education amid the spike of the dreaded delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.

The government recently reduced the fees for secondary education because of the shortness of the 2021 school calendar slightly lifting some weight off the shoulders of the parents.

In the revised structure for boarding schools, the National schools will only pay Sh45,054 less Sh8,500 while the Extra County schools will pay Sh35,035 less Sh5,500.
