Veteran journalist and former KTN News anchor Njoroge Mwaura has passed away at the age of 74.
His wife, Lucy Njoroge, confirmed his death on Monday, revealing that he succumbed at a Nairobi hospital where he had been undergoing treatment.
According to Lucy, Mwaura had been admitted for surgery but developed complications shortly after the procedure.
“After the surgery, he did not respond well. He was taken back to ICU and he passed on Saturday night, that is very early Sunday,” she said.
However, she did not disclose the specific illness that had led to his hospitalisation.

Mwaura was a revered figure in Kenya’s media landscape, having spent decades in journalism.
He began his career as a news anchor at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) before joining the newly established Kenya Television Network (KTN).
During his tenure at KTN, he delivered articulate news coverage and insightful reporting, earning him recognition as one of the country's top broadcasters.
Beyond anchoring, Mwaura was known for his segment, 'Njoroge Notebook', which tackled pressing national issues.
He retired in 2012 but was briefly recalled in the same year to assist in KTN’s rebranding efforts, before officially exiting the industry in 2013.
