Showmax’s new dating show, Nairobi Bachelor, is scheduled to debut on December 6, 2024 setting the stage for love, drama and romance blending into the festive season kicking in.
13-part series is hosted by the vibrant celebrity couple Daddie Marto (Sue na Jonnie) and Koku Lwanga with the show introducing a fresh fascinating twist to the dating show genre.
Nairobi Bachelor follows the journey of young bachelors and singletons seeking to find their perfect match with each bachelor using his senses and wit to find the woman of his dreams.
The captivating show also features a unique Baggage segment, where potential couples are forced to confront the skeletons in their closets and decide if they are worth carrying.
The show is produced by Real Strike Studios, which produced the 2023 award-winning Kenyan short film Kanairo, with Clementina Kabutha as the show creator and director.

“Nairobi Bachelor was born from the desire to revolutionise the traditional dating show format,” said Kabutha.
She added: “We wanted to create a platform that mirrors the complexities of modern love, where emotional connection, shared values, and the ability to handle life's challenges are paramount.”
She says the show’s unique premise blends real-life stories, and engaging drama to strike the perfect balance between entertainment and authenticity during this festive season.
“Featuring a diverse cast and set against Nairobi's vibrant urban backdrop, Nairobi Bachelor infuses cultural richness and relatability, fostering a deep connection with its audience.”
Co-host Koku Lwanga has expressed her excitement at the opportunity to host the unique show, which she says, falls completely outside her comfort zone but enables her to grow.
“I have always been passionate about meaningful connections and relationships, and the idea of being part of a project that celebrates love in all its complexity felt incredibly rewarding,” said Lwanga.
According to co-host Daddie Marto, Nairobi Bachelor showcases that dating in Kenya is both challenging and deeply rooted in cultural nuances that unpacks during the ensuing episodes.
“People are navigating a blend of traditional expectations and modern ideals, not to mention the influence of social media and dating apps. While technology has changed how we meet, the core of love - trust, respect, and vulnerability - remains the same,” said Marto.
Nairobi Bachelor premieres on Showmax on December 6, 2024 with new episodes unveiled every Friday.
