Christian Longomba, one half of the popular music duo Longomba, which dominated the Kenyan music scene in the early 2000s, is dead.

Christian is reported to have passed on on Saturday, in Los Angeles, California in the US, and his sister Jessy Jones broke the sad news in a post on her Facebook page.

Jones says Christian, who had been fighting a recurrent brain tumor, succumbed to the illness at 7pm (US time) and revealed that his brother, Prophet Lovy, was by his bedside.

Lovy Longomba, who runs a gospel ministry in the UK also posted the tragic news on Facebook:

“To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord. I love you Christian, My brother, my friend & partner but Jesus loves you more. Enjoy Heaven.”

Among those who have sent their condolence messages on social media include rapper Nonini, who celebrated his contribution to the growth of the local music industry.

Christian Longomba suffered a seizure in May 2015 before being admitted to hospital and later diagnosed with falx and parassagittal meningiomas and later a tumor discovered.

He was later to go under the knife on May 29, 2015 in a successful surgery that was, however, followed by a second operation after doctors discovered blood clots in his brain.
