Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has offered the social media user who invented a nickname for him during the campaigns in the run to the August 9, General Election.
Gachagua announced on Monday that he had offered digital content producer Ivy Chelimo Tarno after a courtesy meeting at the DP’s Harambee House Annex office in the Nairobi CBD area.
This comes a week after the Deputy President announced in a live interview on a local tv station that he was looking for the young promising lawyer to reward her for the nickname.

“The creative economy, a result of empowered youth, will be allowed to thrive & be given all the support in our administration. I met Ivy Chelimo, the 'Riggy G' brand initiator, who paid me a courtesy call in my office and later accompanied us to World Food Day in Kajiado County,” an excited Gachagua posted on his social media pages.
He added: “I have offered to empower her within my office as we continue championing the youth agenda and encourage more of our young people to take up their role in shaping the economy of our Country.”
An elated Chelimo, who was allowed to speak after Gachagua’s official speech at the World Food Day event in Kajiado County, thanked him for the undisclosed employment offer.
“Thank you Bwana deputy for the job. He offered me a job this morning and he’s very passionate about the youth taking up places in this government. I assure you that he has protocols in place and things in place to make sure that we young people we the youth take up opportunities and places,” Ivy said.
She challenged young people to pursue opportunities currently available in the country.
She added: “And also you guys don’t sit down and expect opportunities to come to you. Run after activities as the youth because there is so much in this government for us to do.”

Speaking during an interview last week, Gachagua termed the “Riggy G” sobriquet “melodious” expressing his wish to meet the netizen to show her his appreciation.
“The young lady who decided that Rigathi Gachagua, the name is a little bit difficult and not melodious, we need to give him the name Riggy G. To encourage our young people, I took up the name. I have told my sons to look for that girl to come we have dinner,” he said.
Chelimo, who coined the nickname during the deputy presidential debate that saw Kenya Kwanza’s Gachagua face Azimio La Umoja’s Martha Karua, produces lifestyle and food content on Instagram, Twitter and Youtube.
