Safaricom on Monday announced a sponsorship deal worth Sh1.5 million for the D.O.P.E Campus Tour that has been organised by the Sol Generation record label and creative arts company.
The seven-leg tour that has been delivered in partnership with Trace East Africa and ABSA bank is targeting to reach the youth in more than 15 campuses across Kenya.
The tour will include a musical extravaganza headlined by Nviiri the Storyteller and Bensoul and an engagement tour where the artists and thought leaders are set to interact with students through short masterclasses.
“It is our hope that by the end of the tour, we will have transformed the lives of Kenyan youth by showcasing to them the transformative power of the internet, drawing from how Sol Generation has been able to leverage online platforms to grow their popularity in Kenya and beyond,” Peter Ndegwa, CEO Safaricom, said.

The aim of the tour is to break down the “microwave to success culture” by highlighting the artistes as a blueprint to success guided by Sol Generation’s values of discipline, order, passion, and excellence (D.O.P.E) to hone their crafts.
“True to Sol Generation’s mantra, we know the youth can be roosters; never late, never lazy, and always working hard. We are happy to on-board a youth-centric brand like Safaricom, who are always keen to inspire the youth to follow their passions and empower them as they journey towards success,” said Sol Generation General Manager William Nanjero.
The tour’s fourth leg will be in Nairobi on Friday July 8 at Strathmore University after successful editions at Moi University in Eldoret, Mount Kenya University in Thika, and last weekend’s edition at the Technical University of Mombasa.
Future editions of the campus tour are planned to be held in Nakuru, Meru, and Kisii, with Sol generation expected to announce the dates on their social media pages in due course.
On top of the Sh1.5 million sponsorship, Safaricom will also provide in-kind support in form of communication, merchandise, and airtime towards making the campus tour a success.
