Netflix has dropped the Chappelle's Show from its streaming library after popular American comedian Dave Chappelle complained that he was not receiving royalties from it.
In a video he shared on Instagram, Chappelle lamented at how CBSViacom allegedly sold the rights to stream the comedy series to Netflix without him receiving a dime.
In clip which is 18 minutes long filmed during Chappelle’s recent stand-up session, the comedian narrated how he was duped into signing a predatory contract at the age of 28 that saw him duped out of ever receiving royalties from his popular skits.
“They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract. But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal, ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right?" Chappelle posed during the performance.
The iconic comedian however lauded Netflix for accepting to remove the show from its library following his request due to the pay issue.

"I love working with Netflix. When all those bad things happened to me, they didn't exist. When I found out they were streaming ‘Chappelle’s Show’, I was furious. So, you know what I did? I called them and told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better,” he narrated.
During the emotional session, Chappelle took the audience through his comedy career and how he had been taken advantage of when he started out aged 14.
One of the times he said he would never forget is when an older comedian stole his joke and daringly used it during a performance just before he went on stage.
"I think about it every day because that was the first time someone ever did that to me. But in my career, it has happened many, many times since," he said angrily.
The comedian ended the stand-up by appealing to his hardcore to boycott the Chappelle’s Show in all the platforms it was available on until he gets his dues.
But the show is still available on CBS All Access and Comedy Central platform even as Netflix removed it from its platforms on Chappelle’s request.
